Fonterra Dairy Co-Operative Group Limited, the world’s leading dairy exporter, needed improved price transparency, forward price information, and enhanced price risk management for customers. CRA designed and developed the electronic trading platform, GlobalDairyTrade (GDT), which includes both a public information site and a secure bidding site. The trading mechanism is based on sound economic and bidding theory, as well as extensive CRA experience in bidding mechanisms and market designs. CRA also has been the independent Trading Manager in charge of the trading events (starting with the first trading event in July 2008), in which customers from around the world participate in the twice-monthly trading events. New sellers have joined GDT making it a multi-seller, multi-buyer trading platform.

CRA designed and developed the NFX electronic trading platform to connect buyers and sellers, provide trusted and transparent market-based reference prices, and enhance marketplace efficiency for wool and other natural fibre products. The NFX platform is starting with New Zealand wool and over time will bring together buyers and sellers across the globe for wool and other natural fibres. CRA operates the platform as the independent Trading Manager for the fortnightly trading events. This ensures an independent and neutral transactional price discovery process to support buyer and seller relationships.

Ocean Spray needed improved price transparency, market-based price information, and enhanced price and quantity risk management for customers. CRA designed and developed the CranberryAuction electronic auction platform which includes both a public information Website (www.cranberryauction.info) and a secure bidding Website. The auction mechanism is based on sound economic and bidding theory, as well as extensive CRA experience in bidding mechanisms and market designs. CRA also has been the independent Auction Manager since 2009 in charge of conducting the auctions four times per year.
